2024 China Basketball Hall of Fame Celebrates Legends & Rising Legacy

The 2024 class of the China Basketball Hall of Fame welcomed its newest members during a grand ceremony at Beijing's Tsinghua University, honoring athletes, coaches, and pioneers who shaped the nation's basketball legacy. The event drew alumni Hall of Famers and a new generation of athletes, blending nostalgia with a vision for the future.

Eight luminaries received honors: Li Hanting and Gong Xiaobin as outstanding male athletes, Yang Jie and Miao Lijie as outstanding female athletes, and Ma Qingsheng as outstanding coach. Guo Yupei was recognized for excellence in refereeing, while Li Zhenzhong, Wu Chengzhang, and Huang Lie were celebrated as pioneers.

Miao Lijie, a standout in international competitions, shared memories of her career highs and the pressures of global tournaments. Gong Xiaobin captivated attendees by revealing a scar from a 1998 game against South Korea, stressing resilience and national pride: 'Young players must aim for the world stage – that’s how you carry China’s name forward.'

With this induction, the Hall of Fame now honors 42 individuals and three teams, reinforcing its commitment to preserving China's basketball history amid its growing global influence.
