China-Europe Freight Train Eastern Corridor Surpasses 3,000 Trips in 2026

The connectivity between the Chinese mainland and Europe has reached a new milestone in 2026. The eastern corridor of the China-Europe freight train network has officially recorded more than 3,000 train trips so far this year, underscoring the growing importance of rail logistics in global trade.

Highlighting this momentum, a return train entered the Chinese mainland through the Manzhouli port in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region this past Saturday. Carrying a diverse cargo of cooking oil, automobile tires, and aluminum ingots, the shipment is bound for Wuhan in central China, demonstrating the corridor's role in facilitating the flow of essential industrial and consumer goods.

The eastern corridor serves as a strategic logistical artery consisting of three primary railway ports: Manzhouli, Suifenhe, and Tongjiang. As of June 2026, the number of operating routes on this corridor has expanded to 27. This network now links over 60 cities across the Chinese mainland with 14 European countries, significantly reducing transit times compared to sea freight and offering a reliable alternative for business professionals and investors.

For global markets and researchers, this expansion reflects a broader trend of diversifying supply chains and strengthening Eurasian economic ties. The continued growth of the eastern corridor not only streamlines trade but also fosters deeper economic integration between the Chinese mainland and its European partners.
