China Proposes Deeper SCO Economic Integration
China has called for strengthened economic cooperation among Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) members during a high-profile business forum in Beijing. Gao Yunlong, chairman of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, emphasized the need to align regional development strategies and improve supply chain resilience across the bloc.
Addressing 400 government and business representatives on Thursday, Gao described economic collaboration as the 'powerful engine' driving the SCO's growth. The vice-chairperson of China's top political advisory body outlined plans to elevate trade quality and industrial efficiency among member states.
Building Shared Prosperity
The forum, organized by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, highlighted opportunities in cross-border infrastructure and digital connectivity. Participants examined initiatives to create an 'SCO community with a shared future,' aligning with China's vision for multilateral development.
Recent trade data shows SCO members accounted for 20% of global GDP growth in 2023. Analysts suggest enhanced cooperation could unlock new opportunities in energy, technology, and agricultural sectors across Eurasia.
