China's independently developed third-generation superconducting quantum computer, Origin Wukong, has achieved a significant milestone by surpassing 20 million remote visits globally. This achievement marks a pivotal moment in the country's advancements in quantum computing, as reported by China Science and Technology Daily.
According to the Anhui Quantum Computing Engineering Research Center (AQCERC), Origin Wukong has been accessed remotely by users from 139 countries and regions. The United States, Russia, Japan, and Canada have shown the highest levels of user activity, with the U.S. leading in foreign user visits.
Since its operational launch on January 6, 2024, Origin Wukong has successfully completed over 339,000 quantum computing tasks. These tasks span a diverse range of industries, including finance and biomedicine, showcasing the computer's versatility and practical applications.
The quantum computer is powered by Wukong, a 72-qubit indigenous superconducting quantum chip, making it one of China's most advanced programmable and deliverable superconducting quantum computers. The name Wukong is inspired by the mythological Sun Wukong, the legendary Monkey King, symbolizing the computer's powerful and adaptable capabilities.
