Xi Jinping Leads CPC Meeting to Foster High-Quality Development and Ecological Protection

On Monday, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, chaired a significant meeting of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee. The gathering focused on advancing high-quality development and promoting ecological conservation in the Yellow River Basin, a region vital to China's cultural heritage and economic future.

The meeting reviewed a comprehensive report from the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee. This included discussions on the work reports of the leading Party members' groups from key state institutions: the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), the State Council, the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the Supreme People's Court (SPC), and the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP). The Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee also presented its work report.

The CPC leadership acknowledged the achievements of these institutions over the past year and approved their work plans for 2025. Emphasizing the importance of collaborative effort, the meeting called on the leading Party members' groups to prioritize effective action, drive reform initiatives, and contribute to advancing high-quality development and the modernization of China.

A significant portion of the meeting was dedicated to ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin. Xi Jinping and the CPC leadership underscored the necessity of fully implementing the Yellow River Protection Law. They highlighted the strategic importance of enhancing water source conservation in the upper reaches, strengthening soil and water conservation in the middle reaches, and advancing wetland protection and ecological governance in the lower reaches.

The meeting outlined efforts to ensure the safety of critical dams, reservoirs, and infrastructure. It stressed the need to align the Yellow River's high-quality development with broader strategies, such as the large-scale development of the western region and the rise of the central region. Additionally, the leadership emphasized the holistic and systematic protection of cultural heritage and promoting the integration of culture and tourism development along the Yellow River Basin.

The Secretariat was urged to enhance its political capabilities, strengthen self-governance, and effectively accomplish all tasks entrusted by the CPC Central Committee. The meeting's outcomes reflect the CPC's commitment to ecological preservation and sustainable development, aiming to balance economic growth with environmental stewardship in one of China's most significant regions.
