President Xi Jinping Sets Stage for Strategic Talks with Kim Jong Un in DPRK Visit

In a significant diplomatic move, Chinese President Xi Jinping has expressed his keen anticipation for an upcoming state visit to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), marking his first trip to the country in seven years. The visit, slated for this Monday and Tuesday, aims to revitalize and advance the long-standing ties between the two nations.

Ahead of the visit, President Xi shared his reflections in a signed article published in Rodong Sinmun, the official newspaper of the DPRK. In the piece, he emphasized the profound bond between China and the DPRK, describing them as friendly socialist neighbors who share a common future and stand by one another regardless of the evolving international landscape.

President Xi highlighted that the traditional friendship between the two countries remains unbreakable and enduring, continuing to demonstrate vigorous vitality. He noted that top-level strategic guidance serves as the greatest strength of their relationship. Over recent years, President Xi and Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the DPRK, have held six meetings, maintaining close strategic communication to blueprint the future of bilateral relations.

A defining feature of the relationship, according to President Xi, is a shared socialist ideal. He asserted that high-level strategic coordination provides contemporary significance to China-DPRK relations, with both parties pursuing the common goal of promoting long-term peace and stability both regionally and globally.

The two nations continue to firmly support each other in safeguarding national sovereignty, security, and development interests. By working together, they aim to uphold regional tranquility, international fairness, and the postwar international order, ensuring a stable environment for their respective peoples.
