Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, chaired a significant meeting of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee on Monday. The gathering focused on reviewing reports and opinions crucial for China's continued advancement.
The meeting assessed a report from the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau after discussing work reports from the leading Party members' groups of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), the State Council, the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the Supreme People's Court (SPC), and the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP). Additionally, the work report of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee was reviewed.
A key topic was the comprehensive promotion of ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin. The meeting underscored the importance of enforcing the Yellow River Protection Law and enhancing conservation efforts across the river's upper, middle, and lower reaches.
The CPC Central Committee fully recognized the achievements of the leading Party members' groups over the past year and approved their work plans for 2025. It was emphasized that these groups must prioritize action, unite strengths to advance reforms, and contribute to high-quality development and the realization of Chinese modernization.
The Secretariat was encouraged to bolster political capability, strengthen strict self-governance, and effectively accomplish all tasks assigned by the CPC Central Committee.
The meeting also called for efforts to ensure the safety of critical infrastructure such as dams and reservoirs. It highlighted the need to integrate high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin with strategies like the large-scale development of the western region and the rise of the central region. Protecting cultural heritage and promoting the integration of culture and tourism development were also stressed.
