Hubei’s Rotating Railway Bridge Achieves Precision Milestone

In a feat of engineering precision, the Caojia'ao Bridge in Macheng, Hubei province, completed a 60-degree rotation over the Beijing–Kowloon Railway on October 21. The structure, weighing several thousand tonnes, was aligned within 67 minutes using advanced technology to achieve millimeter-level accuracy.

This milestone advances the Hefei–Wuhan High-Speed Railway project, which aims to reduce travel time between the two cities to approximately one hour upon completion. The railway is part of broader efforts to enhance connectivity across central China, supporting economic integration and regional development.

Engineers emphasized the technical challenges of rotating such a massive structure above active rail lines without disrupting service. The project highlights China's growing expertise in large-scale infrastructure innovation, offering potential lessons for high-speed rail development worldwide.

Once operational, the railway is expected to strengthen business ties between Anhui and Hubei provinces while providing faster travel options for residents and visitors exploring central China's cultural and economic hubs.
