Chinese Vice President Han Zheng Engages U.S. Business Leaders to Strengthen Ties

Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met with representatives of the U.S. business community in Washington D.C. on Sunday, emphasizing the importance of deepening economic ties between the two nations. Han expressed hope that U.S. companies will continue to invest and establish roots in the Chinese mainland, serving as a bridge to contribute to the steady, sound, and sustainable development of China-U.S. relations.

Han is in Washington D.C. as President Xi Jinping's special representative to attend the inauguration ceremony of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on Monday, at the invitation of the United States. During his visit, he met with members of the U.S.-China Business Council and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

Highlighting the recent phone conversation between President Xi and President-elect Trump, Han noted that the two leaders reached important common understandings regarding the future development of China-U.S. relations. He emphasized that both nations share broad common interests and possess vast potential for cooperation.

\"Getting the bilateral relationship off to a good start and maintaining its steady growth serves the common well-being of the peoples of both countries and meets the expectations of the international community,\" Han stated.

He acknowledged the vital role the U.S. business community has played in fostering China-U.S. relations, describing it as a participant, witness, contributor, and beneficiary of bilateral economic and trade cooperation, as well as China's reform and opening-up efforts. Han assured that China will unswervingly advance its reform and opening-up policies and continue to improve its business environment.

Representatives of the U.S. business community expressed optimism about China's economic prospects and development opportunities. They viewed the recent phone conversation between Trump and Xi as a positive and encouraging signal. \"As the world's two most dynamic and technologically advanced economies, the U.S. and China should pursue mutually beneficial cooperation and work towards a constructive and stable coexistence,\" they remarked.

The business leaders affirmed their support for strengthening dialogue and communication between the two countries to advance bilateral relations and economic and trade cooperation.

On Sunday, Han also met with Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Han welcomed U.S. companies like Tesla to seize opportunities within China's growing market. \"China welcomes U.S. companies, including Tesla, to share in the fruits of China's development and contribute more to promoting China-U.S. economic and trade relations,\" he said.

Musk expressed his enthusiasm for deepening investment and cooperation with China. He highlighted Tesla's commitment to playing an active role in promoting economic and trade exchanges between the United States and China.
