More than a week has passed since a magnitude-6.8 earthquake struck Dingri County in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region on January 7. The tremor left many villagers in Cuo'ang Village, Quluo Town, facing resettlement and the challenges of reconstruction.
Amidst the ongoing recovery efforts, firefighters from the Xizang Forest Firefighting Special Operations Unit have stepped beyond their traditional roles. At Cuo'ang Village, these brave individuals are not only aiding in reconstruction but also preparing warm meals for the affected residents.
Our reporter, Zhao Chenchen, visited the frontline to witness the firefighters' dedication firsthand. In makeshift outdoor kitchens under the crisp sky of Xizang, the firefighters chopped vegetables, stirred steaming pots, and served hearty dishes to villagers who have lost their homes. Their acts of kindness have brought comfort and a sense of community to those impacted by the quake.
"We are here to support the villagers in every way we can," said a member of the Special Operations Unit. "Providing meals is just a small part of our efforts to help them rebuild their lives."
The collaboration between the firefighters and the villagers exemplifies the resilience and solidarity present in Dingri County. As resettlement continues, such gestures are vital in restoring normalcy and hope within the community.
