China Coast Guard Conducts Patrols East of Taiwan Island

The China Coast Guard (CCG) carried out a law-enforcement patrol in the waters east of Taiwan island on Monday, signaling a firm stance on maritime rights and territorial sovereignty.

According to the CCG, the operation was a direct response to a unilateral announcement by Japan and the Philippines regarding maritime delimitation talks in the area. This development has been viewed as a significant infringement upon the territorial sovereignty and maritime interests of the Chinese mainland.

Jiang Lue, a spokesperson for the CCG, emphasized that the patrol was a necessary action taken to address the unilateral moves by Japan and the Philippines. He stressed that such actions undermine regional stability and infringe upon China's legitimate rights.

"We urge Japan and the Philippines to immediately cease all illegal actions that undermine China's sovereignty, rights and interests," Jiang stated, calling for a cessation of activities that challenge China's maritime position.

Moving forward, the CCG has affirmed its commitment to strengthening control over the relevant waters. The agency stated it will continue to take all necessary measures to safeguard China's territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests in the region.
