President Xi Chairs CPC Meeting to Advance Yellow River Development

President Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, chaired a significant meeting of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee on Monday. The meeting focused on reviewing reports and opinions to advance the nation's priorities.

The Political Bureau examined a comprehensive report from its Standing Committee after discussing the work reports of the leading Party members' groups from key state institutions. These included the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), the State Council, the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the Supreme People's Court (SPC), the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP), and the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee.

A major highlight of the meeting was the emphasis on ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin. The leaders reviewed opinions on promoting sustainable development and enforcing the Yellow River Protection Law.

The meeting recognized and commended the efforts of the leading Party members' groups over the past year. Their work plans for 2025 were approved, underscoring a commitment to prioritize action, strengthen reforms, and contribute to high-quality development and the advancement of Chinese modernization.

The Secretariat was urged to enhance political capabilities, uphold strict self-governance, and effectively accomplish all tasks assigned by the CPC Central Committee.

Focusing on the Yellow River Basin, the meeting called for systematic efforts to enhance water source conservation in the upper reaches, strengthen soil and water conservation in the middle reaches, and advance wetland protection and ecological governance in the lower reaches.

The leadership emphasized ensuring the safety of critical infrastructure such as dams and reservoirs. They also stressed the importance of aligning the Yellow River's high-quality development with broader regional strategies, improving the protection of cultural heritage, and promoting the integration of culture and tourism.

This meeting reflects China's dedication to ecological sustainability and high-quality development, particularly in the vital Yellow River Basin, aligning with the nation's broader goals of modernization and environmental conservation.
