Chinese President Xi Jinping extended festive greetings to non-Communist Party of China (CPC) personages ahead of the Spring Festival during an annual gathering at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Monday.
Addressing members of non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front, Xi emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration in achieving China's development goals.
The Spring Festival, also known as the Chinese Lunar New Year, falls on January 29 this year. Xi conveyed his best wishes to all attendees, highlighting the significance of the festival as a time for reflection and renewed commitment to the nation's progress.
Xi outlined China's plans to implement more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies in 2025, focusing on high-quality development and greater self-reliance in science and technology. He stressed that these efforts are crucial for sustaining sound social and economic development.
He called upon non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to concentrate on central tasks, serve the country's overall interests, and leverage their unique strengths. \"We must rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength to achieve our common goals,\" Xi stated.
Xi underscored the importance of meeting the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025) and laying a solid foundation for the next five years. He encouraged non-CPC personages to mobilize all positive forces to advance development, deepen reforms, promote high-quality growth, and contribute to the formulation of the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).
Addressing environmental concerns, Xi stressed the need to tackle critical and challenging problems in the supervision of the Yangtze River ecosystem's protection. He emphasized that safeguarding the environment is integral to China's sustainable development.
Xi also urged the ACFIC to guide the private sector in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship and boosting confidence in development. He called for the establishment and improvement of modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features to enhance the vitality and competitiveness of private enterprises.
Concluding his address, Xi reaffirmed the importance of unity and cooperation among all sectors of society. He expressed confidence that, through collective efforts, China would achieve its development objectives and continue to progress toward a prosperous future.
