Chinese President Xi Jinping conducted an inspection of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) Northern Theater Command on Friday, ahead of the upcoming Spring Festival.
During his visit, President Xi, who is also the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), extended festive greetings to all service personnel of the PLA, the People's Armed Police Force, civilian personnel in the military, as well as members of the militia and reserve forces. He did so on behalf of the CPC Central Committee and the CMC.
The Spring Festival, marking the Chinese Lunar New Year, falls on January 29 this year and is a significant time for family reunions and cultural traditions across China.
On Friday morning, President Xi met with officers and soldiers of the PLA Northern Theater Command. He also connected via video link with representatives from various troops across the military. Officers and soldiers briefed him on their combat readiness duties and mission execution status, which he acknowledged and praised.
Emphasizing the importance of vigilance during the holidays, Xi urged the troops to bolster the enforcement of their combat readiness duties. He highlighted the need to effectively respond to any emergencies and to safeguard national security and social stability throughout the festive period.
