In a strategic move to bolster industrial modernization, Chinese Premier Li Qiang emphasized the necessity of promoting the deep integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced manufacturing during a recent inspection tour in Beijing.
During his visit to several sci-tech enterprises, the Premier, who is also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, received detailed briefings on the latest technological innovations in intelligent robots. He personally inspected the application of various research and development (R&D) achievements, observing how these products are being deployed across different operational scenarios.
Premier Li identified intelligent robots as a key vehicle for bridging the gap between AI and advanced manufacturing. He called for sustained and intensified efforts to strengthen basic research and achieve critical breakthroughs in core technologies. By pursuing cutting-edge exploration in the field of robotics, the country aims to maintain its competitive edge in the global tech landscape.
To provide robust support for high-quality industrial development, the Premier urged for accelerated innovation in three primary areas: complete machines, key components, and intelligent decision-making and control systems. He noted that the intelligent robotics industry possesses significant room for growth, suggesting that the country should leverage its unique advantages, including a supersized market, comprehensive industrial chains, and a wealth of application scenarios.
Highlighting the role of the private sector, Premier Li stressed that enterprises are the primary force driving industrial transformation. He advocated for supporting more companies in upgrading their entire operational processes—spanning R&D, design, manufacturing, operations management, and after-sales services—to better serve the evolving needs of the people.
