In October 2012, the construction of the Dushanbe No. 2 thermal power plant commenced in Tajikistan, marking a significant milestone in the nation’s energy sector. The project, a collaboration between the Tajik government and China’s Tebian Electric Apparatus Stock Co., Ltd. (TBEA), aimed to resolve the country’s acute power shortages during winter and adjust its national power supply structure.
Completed in 2016, the combined heat and power station with a total installed capacity of 400 megawatts restored central heating to residents of Dushanbe after a 15-year hiatus. The successful operation of the plant not only improved the quality of life for the local population but also bolstered Tajikistan’s economic development.
This project exemplifies China’s commitment to fostering international cooperation and shared development. In March 2013, during his first overseas trip as Chinese president, Xi Jinping introduced China’s vision of building a community with a shared future for mankind and promoting a new type of international relations centered on win-win cooperation.
Over the years, China has pursued peaceful development and collaborated with countries worldwide to address common challenges. By investing in infrastructure projects like the Dushanbe No. 2 thermal power plant, China contributes to global prosperity and stability, supporting sustainable development and enhancing the well-being of people across different nations.
