Wang Yi Calls for High-Quality China-Cambodia Cooperation
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has emphasized China’s readiness to work closely with Cambodia to enhance high-quality cooperation across various sectors. Meeting with Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Sok Chenda Sophea on Thursday in Chiang Mai, Thailand, Wang highlighted the importance of deepening practical cooperation and consolidating security ties between the two nations.
Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, praised the iron-clad friendship between China and Cambodia. He stated that China places great importance on its relationship with Cambodia within the framework of its neighborhood diplomacy. Wang called for increased efforts to promote comprehensive strategic cooperation and achieve high-quality development that benefits both countries.
The two leaders discussed the significant results achieved in jointly combating cross-border crime by their respective law enforcement and security departments. Wang urged for greater collaboration to completely eradicate issues such as gambling and fraud, which pose challenges to regional security and stability.
Sok Chenda Sophea expressed Cambodia’s commitment to strengthening ties with China and appreciated the support provided by China in various developmental initiatives. The meeting underscores the mutual desire to build a stronger partnership and contribute to regional prosperity.
