China and Europe Collaborate to Combat Climate Change and Foster Sustainable Growth

China and Europe have strengthened their commitment to collaborate on climate change and sustainable development. In a recent dialogue hosted by CGTN’s Michael Wang, key figures from both regions discussed the urgent need for enhanced global environmental governance through international cooperation.

Patrick Nijs, former Belgian ambassador to China, highlighted the importance of bilateral relations in addressing global challenges. “China and Europe share a responsibility to lead the way in sustainable practices,” he stated. “Our cooperation is essential for the well-being of our planet.”

Álvarez Pereira Carlos, secretary-general of the Club of Rome, emphasized the role of joint efforts in achieving environmental goals. “International collaboration is crucial,” he said. “By pooling our resources and knowledge, we can find effective solutions to climate change.”

Zhou Jinfeng, secretary-general of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation, showcased China’s achievements in environmental protection and low-carbon initiatives. “China has made significant strides in green development,” Zhou noted. “By working with European partners, we can further promote sustainable growth.”

The dialogue explored international solutions to pressing environmental issues, underscoring the necessity of strengthening global governance. The participants looked ahead to future prospects of low-carbon cooperation, aiming to pave the way for a greener and more sustainable world.
