China Expresses Openness to EU Dialogue on Intellectual Property Rights
Channels of communication with the European Union (EU) on intellectual property issues are always open, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce stated on Monday. This announcement comes in response to the EU filing a complaint at the World Trade Organization (WTO) against China's judicial measures concerning standard essential patent disputes.
The ministry confirmed that China received a consultation request from the EU on January 20, addressing concerns over intellectual property rights protection. In an online statement responding to media inquiries, the ministry emphasized China's commitment to adhering strictly to WTO rules and its accession commitments.
\"China has continuously improved legislation and law enforcement related to the protection of intellectual property rights, and our achievements have been widely recognized,\" the ministry remarked. It added that China will handle subsequent matters in accordance with WTO procedures and firmly safeguard its legitimate rights and interests.
The Chinese Ministry of Commerce reiterated the importance of dialogue and consultation in resolving trade disputes and expressed willingness to engage constructively with the EU to address mutual concerns.
