Timor-Leste and HK’s GX Foundation Sign Health Cooperation Agreements

The GX Foundation, based in China’s Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), and the Ministry of Health of Timor-Leste have signed two significant health cooperation documents, marking a new chapter in their collaborative efforts. The signing ceremony took place on Friday at the Prime Minister’s Office of Timor-Leste, witnessed by distinguished leaders from both sides.

The first agreement, the “Memorandum of Cooperation on Dengue Prevention and Control Project,” underscores a joint commitment to combat the mosquito-borne illness that poses a serious health threat in the region. Through this collaboration, both parties aim to implement effective strategies and interventions to reduce the incidence of dengue fever in Timor-Leste.

The second document, a “Letter of Intent for Clean Water Project Cooperation,” addresses the critical need for access to clean water, which is essential for improving public health and preventing waterborne diseases. This initiative reflects a shared dedication to enhancing the quality of life for the people of Timor-Leste through sustainable development projects.

Leung Chun-ying, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and chairman of the GX Foundation, and Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao of Timor-Leste were present to witness the signing. Their participation signifies the importance of this partnership and the mutual commitment to strengthening ties between Hong Kong and Timor-Leste in the health sector.

This collaboration reflects the growing partnership between China and Timor-Leste, highlighting a collective effort to address pressing health challenges. By pooling resources and expertise, both parties hope to make a meaningful impact on public health initiatives and foster long-term cooperation.
