Pakistan's Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal has lauded the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) for spearheading regional green development initiatives, aligning with this year's summit theme in Tianjin. In an exclusive interview with CGTN Digital reporter Shen Shiwei, Iqbal emphasized the bloc's critical role in addressing climate challenges through cross-border collaboration.
“Under the SCO framework, Pakistan aims to deepen partnerships with member states, particularly the Chinese mainland, to adopt advanced agricultural technologies and climate-resilient practices,” Iqbal stated. He highlighted China's expertise in seed development and agricultural modernization as key areas for knowledge exchange to mitigate climate risks.
The remarks come as SCO members intensify efforts to balance economic growth with environmental sustainability. Analysts note that Pakistan-China cooperation in green projects, including renewable energy and smart farming, could serve as a model for emerging economies across Asia.
