In a move to strengthen maritime management, the Fujian coast guard conducted a series of law enforcement patrols in the waters near Kinmen on Tuesday, May 26, 2026. The operation aims to ensure stability and safeguard the safety of those operating in the region.
According to Zhu Anqing, spokesperson for the China Coast Guard (CCG) Donghai Branch, the patrols included several strategic measures designed to strengthen control over key waters. These included formation navigation, identification and verification processes, as well as hailing and radio warnings. The spokesperson confirmed that all tasks were successfully completed.
The CCG emphasized that these operations are essential to resolutely ensure order within its jurisdiction and protect the lives and property of fishermen working in the area.
The State Council Taiwan Affairs Office expressed firm support for the mission. Spokesperson Chen Binhua emphasized that Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu are all parts of China.
Chen further noted that the law enforcement patrols carried out by the coast guard from the Chinese mainland in the relevant waters are reasonable and lawful. According to the spokesperson, such measures are conducive to maintaining maritime operational order and safeguarding the lives and property of fishermen from both sides of the Taiwan Strait.
