In a bold response to recent U.S. visa restrictions affecting international students, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) has extended an open invitation to Harvard University students impacted by the policy. HKUST announced on May 23 it will fast-track admissions for all affected Harvard undergraduates, postgraduates, and admitted candidates. A university spokesperson stated: "We're committed to preserving academic continuity through prioritized credit transfers, housing assistance, and dedicated visa support teams."
Cross-Border Educational Solidarity
Hong Kong's Education Secretary Dr. Choi Yuk-lin endorsed the initiative, emphasizing: "The Hong Kong region welcomes global talent. Our universities are collaborating with academic networks to ensure seamless transitions." Meanwhile, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning reaffirmed China's stance: "Politicizing education harms international cooperation. We'll always protect scholars' rights while promoting mutually beneficial exchanges."
