China-CEEC Expo Strengthens Slovenia-China Collaboration, Says Media Chief

The 4th China-Central and Eastern European Countries (CEEC) Expo in Ningbo has become a pivotal platform for fostering economic and cultural cooperation, with Slovenia’s role as this year’s guest country of honor drawing particular attention. Vanja Kavcic, editor-in-chief of Slovenia’s prominent media outlet Internationalis, shared insights with CGTN on how the event bridges nations through innovation and dialogue.

“The Slovenian Pavilion showcases our strengths in green technology and sustainable solutions,” Kavcic noted, emphasizing exhibits ranging from eco-friendly industrial designs to traditional Alpine crafts. “This expo isn’t just about trade—it’s a cultural handshake that deepens mutual understanding.”

With over 200 Slovenian businesses participating, Kavcic highlighted growing interest in China’s renewable energy and digital transformation sectors. “Slovenian firms see partnerships here as gateways to broader Asian markets,” she said, citing recent agreements in smart manufacturing and tourism promotion.

The expo coincides with a 15% year-on-year increase in bilateral trade, according to Chinese customs data. Analysts suggest Slovenia’s strategic position as a Central European logistics hub could further enhance China’s Belt and Road connectivity.

Kavcic also praised the event’s role in people-to-people exchanges, noting increased Chinese interest in Slovenian heritage sites and culinary traditions. “When our stories are shared authentically, it builds trust—the foundation of lasting collaboration,” she concluded.
