Israel Condemns Antisemitic Attack on Embassy Staff in Washington

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has condemned the killing of two embassy staff members in Washington, D.C., as a "horrific antisemitic attack," vowing to strengthen security for diplomatic missions globally. The incident occurred near the Capital Jewish Museum on Wednesday evening, with U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem confirming the deaths.

Netanyahu expressed "deep shock and outrage" in a statement, linking the violence to rising antisemitism and incitement against Israel. "Blood libels come at a bloody cost," he said, extending condolences to the victims' families. The Prime Minister’s office confirmed he spoke with Israeli Ambassador Yechiel Leiter to coordinate response efforts.

Authorities have not yet identified the assailant or disclosed a motive, but the attack has intensified concerns over the safety of Jewish institutions abroad. Netanyahu emphasized that Israeli security agencies would implement "enhanced protective measures" at diplomatic posts worldwide.

The incident underscores growing global tensions surrounding antisemitism and the security challenges faced by diplomatic personnel. Analysts warn that such attacks could further strain international efforts to combat hate-driven violence.
