Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Colombian counterpart Laura Sarabia in Beijing on Monday, underscoring growing cooperation between Asia and Latin America. The discussion highlighted joint efforts to boost trade, technology transfers, and infrastructure development under China's Belt and Road Initiative framework.
Wang, a member of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau, emphasized China's commitment to "mutually beneficial partnerships" with Global South nations. Sarabia expressed interest in expanding agricultural exports and renewable energy collaboration, noting Colombia's strategic position as a gateway to Latin American markets.
The dialogue also touched on climate action coordination ahead of November's APEC meetings. Analysts suggest the talks could pave the way for new Chinese investments in Colombia's transportation and digital infrastructure sectors.
