Pakistan Launches Bunyanun Marsoos Amid Rising India Tensions

Pakistan has initiated a large-scale military operation, code-named Operation Bunyanun Marsoos, following alleged Indian missile and drone strikes on its air bases, according to reports from Pakistani officials cited by Xinhua. The operation reportedly targeted multiple sites across India, including a BrahMos missile storage facility in Beas, which Pakistani sources claim was destroyed in the initial attack.

The escalation follows accusations from Pakistan\u2019s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) that India conducted strikes on three air bases in Punjab province, including installations near Islamabad. Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, the ISPR director general, stated that all Pakistani strategic assets remained secure and vowed a response, calling India\u2019s actions "unprovoked and reckless." He further alleged Indian involvement in drone and missile strikes in Afghanistan, though details were not disclosed.

Tensions between the neighboring nations have surged since an April 22 attack on tourists in Pahalgam, located in Indian-administered Kashmir. The Pakistani military framed its operation as a direct response to what it described as India's "continued aggression," warning of further destabilization in the region.

Analysts note that this marks one of the most overt military confrontations between the two nuclear-armed states in recent years, raising concerns about broader security implications across Asia. Authorities in both countries have yet to release independent verification of the claimed strikes or damages.
