Hainan Expo 2025 Showcases China’s Open Markets Amid Global Trade Shifts

The fifth China International Consumer Products Expo, better known as Hainan Expo 2025, opened this week in Haikou as a vivid demonstration of China’s commitment to globalized trade. With themes spanning artificial intelligence, humanoid robotics, and sustainable consumption, the event highlights innovation while underscoring opportunities for cross-border collaboration.

Over 4,100 brands from 71 countries and regions are participating, including 65 Fortune Global 500 enterprises. The exhibition floor at Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center features luxury goods alongside emerging technologies like low-altitude aviation systems — a nod to China’s growing consumer-tech integration.

Domestic exhibitors share space with counterparts from the ROK, Japan, and ASEAN nations, reflecting Asia’s interconnected economic ambitions. Analysts note the expo’s timing aligns with broader efforts to counter protectionism through open-market showcases. Travel and cultural attractions targeting international visitors also feature prominently, with gourmet food pavilions and live demonstrations drawing crowds.
