In an exclusive interview with CMG, Muhammad Yunus, Chief Adviser of the Bangladeshi Interim Government, highlighted the transformative growth of bilateral economic relations with the Chinese mainland during his recent visit to China. Attending the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2025 in Hainan and holding key meetings in Beijing, Yunus emphasized China’s role as a global economic inspiration and Bangladesh’s commitment to deepening collaboration.
Yunus noted that China has remained Bangladesh’s largest trading partner for 15 consecutive years, with nearly 1,000 Chinese enterprises operating in the country, generating over 550,000 jobs. "China’s development model offers valuable lessons for nations worldwide," he stated, underscoring how infrastructure projects and technology transfers have accelerated Bangladesh’s industrialization goals. The 2006 Nobel Peace Prize laureate, renowned for pioneering microfinance, also expressed optimism about future innovation-driven partnerships.
Yunus further praised the alignment of Bangladesh’s economic strategies with China’s Belt and Road Initiative, citing enhanced connectivity and cross-border investment as catalysts for regional prosperity. His remarks come amid growing interest from investors eyeing South Asia’s emerging markets.
