New Marine Phase Begins for Xiamen-Kinmen Bridge

The Xiamen-Kinmen Bridge, a critical infrastructure project linking the Chinese mainland's Xiamen City to the under-construction Xiang'an Airport, has reached a pivotal milestone with the successful installation of its first precast pier. Spanning 17.34 kilometers and supported by 85 piers, this 37.27 billion yuan ($5.15 billion) project is poised to revolutionize regional connectivity.

Engineers utilized an innovative intelligent positioning system to lift the 3,000-tonne pier with millimeter-level precision, replacing traditional manual methods. Once completed, the bridge will serve as the fastest route between Xiamen and Xiang'an Airport, easing traffic congestion and enhancing logistics efficiency for Fujian Province’s bustling economic corridor.

Observers highlight the project\'s potential to strengthen cross-strait transport networks while supporting long-term economic integration. For residents of Taiwan\'s Kinmen County, located just 2 kilometers from Xiamen, the bridge symbolizes growing practical cooperation in the Taiwan Strait region.
