U.S. Weighs Terms for Key Minerals Deal with Ukraine, Kyiv Awaits Decision

Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Olha Stefanishyna revealed on Friday that negotiations for a critical minerals agreement with the United States remain pending, as Washington finalizes its terms for the deal. The announcement highlights the strategic significance of Ukraine's mineral resources amid shifting global supply chain priorities.

Stefanishyna confirmed to reporters that Ukraine has prepared the agreement’s text and stands ready to sign, but emphasized that the U.S. is still deliberating its conditions. "The American side has not decided yet on the terms on which they want to sign it," she said, underscoring Kyiv’s eagerness to advance the partnership.

The proposed deal, seen as pivotal for Ukraine’s economic recovery and integration into global markets, could bolster access to rare earth minerals vital for technology and green energy sectors. Analysts suggest the agreement aligns with broader U.S.-European efforts to diversify mineral supplies away from dominant producers.

Business leaders and investors across Asia are monitoring the developments closely, as the outcome may influence commodity prices and trade dynamics. For Ukraine, finalizing the pact would mark a step toward stabilizing its war-affected economy while strengthening transcontinental ties.
