Hong Kong, Macao Advisors Advocate Deeper China Integration

Over 230 political advisors from Hong Kong and Macao have convened in Beijing during the annual session of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), submitting proposals to further integrate the two regions into China's national development framework. Representatives emphasized leveraging their financial expertise and international networks to bolster cross-regional collaboration.

Members of the CPPCC National Committee highlighted opportunities in sectors such as technology innovation, green finance, and trade connectivity. "Hong Kong's role as a global financial hub can amplify the Chinese mainland's market access," said one advisor, while a Macao counterpart underscored the region's potential as a cultural bridge between China and Portuguese-speaking countries.

The discussions align with Beijing's broader strategy to deepen synergies under initiatives like the Greater Bay Area plan, which aims to integrate Hong Kong, Macao, and nine mainland cities into an economic powerhouse. Analysts suggest these moves could enhance cross-border investment flows and regional stability, offering new opportunities for businesses and investors.
