China's education system is poised for a technology-driven overhaul as artificial intelligence reshapes global industries, Education Minister Huai Jinpeng announced during the National People's Congress session in Beijing. The remarks came amid growing interest in homegrown innovations like DeepSeek AI and humanoid robotics.

Higher Education Revolution

With 39 million undergraduates and 4 million postgraduate students nationwide, Huai outlined ambitious reforms targeting STEM development. 'We're strengthening core disciplines like mathematics and computer science to align with national strategic needs,' he told Xinhua, emphasizing plans to cultivate talent in emerging fields through industry-academia partnerships.

Preparing for the AI Era

Basic education reforms will accelerate with a landmark white paper on AI education set for release in 2025. The initiative aims to equip students with digital literacy skills crucial for tomorrow's workforce. 'Every technological revolution demands educational evolution,' Huai noted, framing AI as both a challenge and opportunity.

The ministry's strategy signals China's commitment to maintaining its edge in global tech competitiveness through systemic educational upgrades.
