China Strongly Opposes Canada’s Sanctions on Chinese Entities

In a recent statement, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian voiced strong opposition to Canada's decision to impose sanctions on Chinese entities and individuals.

Canada's sanctions target 76 foreign entities and individuals accused of providing dual-use items to Russia, including more than 20 Chinese entities. Lin Jian described Canada's actions as \"unreasonable and very wrong\" during a regular news briefing on Tuesday.

\"China firmly opposes it and has made solemn representations to the Canadian side,\" Lin stated. He emphasized that unilateral sanctions without a basis in international law and not authorized by the UN Security Council are unacceptable.

Lin further highlighted China's objective stance on the Ukraine issue, committing to promoting a political settlement of the crisis. China has not provided lethal weapons to conflicting parties and maintains strict control over the export of dual-use items, asserting that its export control measures for drones are among the strictest globally.

\"Like other countries, China conducts normal economic and trade cooperation with Russia on the basis of equality and mutual benefit, which is reasonable and beyond reproach,\" Lin added.

China has urged Canada to revoke its sanctions immediately and has pledged to take necessary measures to protect the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies.
