China regards its relationship with Türkiye as crucial, particularly within the context of its Middle East diplomacy, expressing a willingness to enhance communication, deepen development strategies, and expand cooperative ventures to benefit both countries and the broader region.
The Chinese Foreign Minister also extended gratitude to Türkiye for assisting in the recent evacuation of Chinese citizens from Syria. Highlighting the mutual interests in combating terrorism, Wang Yi stressed China's readiness to strengthen counter-terrorism cooperation with Türkiye, aiming to jointly safeguard regional and global peace and stability.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan highlighted the close exchanges between Türkiye and China across various levels and sectors in recent years. He noted the successful meetings of intergovernmental cooperation committees, alignment of the Middle Corridor with the Belt and Road Initiative, and the significant growth of China as Türkiye's second-largest trading partner.
Fidan expressed Türkiye's commitment to expanding trade and investment with China, exploring collaborations in emerging fields such as renewable energy, information technology, and artificial intelligence. Additionally, he affirmed Türkiye's dedication to enhancing cooperation on counter-terrorism, law enforcement, and security both bilaterally and within multilateral frameworks.
The two foreign ministers also discussed regional hotspot issues, with Türkiye acknowledging China's positions on the Ukraine crisis and the Palestinian issue. Fidan voiced support for the six-point consensus jointly proposed by China and Brazil, advocating for a two-state solution, and welcomed China's efforts to strengthen ties with regional countries.
