Chinese Athletes Secure Six More Golds at Harbin Asian Winter Games

Chinese athletes have added six more gold medals to their tally at the 9th Asian Winter Games held in Harbin, northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, on Monday. The victories span across speed skating, skiing, and snowboarding, underscoring China's strong performance in winter sports.

In speed skating, China dominated the men's 500 meters, with Gao Tingyu clinching the gold in 34.95 seconds, narrowly defeating Japan's Wataru Morishige by just 0.02 seconds. South Korea's Kim Jun-ho secured the bronze with a time of 35.03 seconds. The women's 3,000 meters saw Chinese athletes Yang Binyu, Han Mei, and Tai Zhien sweeping the podium, finishing with times of 4:08.54, 4:09.06, and 4:12.01 respectively.

The team sprint event further highlighted China's prowess, as Gao, Lian Ziwen, and Ning Zhongyan captured the gold with a final time of 1:19.22, outpacing South Korea and Japan who took the silver and bronze respectively.

In skiing, China secured three out of four golds. The freestyle skiing mixed team aerials was dominated by Xu Mengtao, Li Xinpeng, and Qi Guangpu, who amassed 305.64 points, over 70 points ahead of Kazakhstan. The snowboard big air events also saw Chinese athletes excel, with Xiong Shirui and Yang Wenlong winning the women's and men's events respectively. Xiong achieved 164 points to take gold over her compatriot Zhao Xiaonan, while Yang scored 193.25 points, leading over Jiang Xinjie.

These impressive performances reflect China's growing strength in winter sports, positioning the nation as a formidable contender in future international competitions.
