Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday inspected the People's Liberation Army (PLA) Northern Theater Command ahead of the upcoming Spring Festival.
President Xi, who is also General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), extended festive greetings to service personnel of the PLA, the People's Armed Police Force, civilian personnel in the military, and members of the militia and reserve forces on behalf of the CPC Central Committee and the CMC.
The Spring Festival, the Chinese Lunar New Year, falls on January 29 this year. It is a time of family reunions and celebrations across the nation.
On Friday morning, President Xi met with officers and soldiers of the PLA Northern Theater Command. He then spoke via video link to representatives of troops across the military.
During the video conference, officers and soldiers briefed President Xi on their combat readiness duties and mission execution status. Xi acknowledged their work and praised their dedication.
President Xi emphasized the importance of bolstering combat readiness duties to effectively respond to any emergencies and safeguard national security and social stability during the holidays.
He urged the troops to remain vigilant to ensure that the people can enjoy a safe and peaceful Spring Festival.
