Xi Jinping’s 2025 Liaoning Visit: A Touch of Warmth and Commitment

Chinese President Xi Jinping recently embarked on his first domestic inspection of 2025, touring Liaoning Province in northeast China to oversee disaster recovery, urban renewal, and industrial advancement efforts. This visit marks the 13th consecutive year Xi has connected with grassroots communities ahead of the Spring Festival, the most significant festival in China, and his fourth visit to Liaoning since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in 2012.

On January 22, Xi visited Zhujiagou, a village in Huludao, one of the areas hardest hit by the unprecedented summer floods of 2024. The torrential downpours led to severe devastation, prompting swift action from local authorities. The village committee responded by constructing new homes for the severely affected households on higher ground. Tailored to each family's size and needs, the new Zhujiagou Village emerged in less than two months, providing nearly 200 disaster-stricken people with warm homes before the onset of winter.

During his visit, Xi inspected the progress of post-disaster restoration, visiting the homes of relocated villagers and inquiring about the quality of their new houses and provisions for daily life. This hands-on approach reflects Xi's longstanding commitment to the well-being of the people. Back in 2013, during the National People's Congress, he emphasized the importance of ensuring and improving people's livelihoods, urging special attention to those facing difficulties and delivering tangible benefits to the populace.

The swift relocation after the floods embodies the \"people-first\" philosophy and the commitment to enhancing the sense of security among residents. Xi's visit highlighted the effectiveness of these efforts and reinforced the government's dedication to supporting affected communities.

On January 23, Xi continued his tour by visiting the Chang'an community in Shenyang, the capital of Liaoning Province, to observe how public services are being optimized to improve residents' quality of life. Since 2023, the community has been renovating old residential areas, upgrading all 13 residential buildings and public spaces. Initiatives promoting quality employment, education, health services, and elderly care have been launched to further support the residents.

Xi also stopped by a cold rolling mill of the Bensteel Group in Benxi, another city in Liaoning, to gain insights into the company's efforts to accelerate transformation and upgrading, promoting high-quality development in the industrial sector.

President Xi's Liaoning visit underscores his dedication to fostering development, improving livelihoods, and promoting industrial advancement. His hands-on approach and direct engagement with communities reflect a leadership style that prioritizes the well-being and prosperity of the people.
