Firefighters Cook for Earthquake-Hit Villagers in Xizang’s Dingri County

More than a week has passed since a magnitude-6.8 earthquake struck Dingri County in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region on January 7. As resettlement and reconstruction efforts continue, stories of community resilience and support have emerged from the affected areas.

In Cuo'ang Village, Quluo Town, the Xizang Forest Firefighting Special Operations Unit has gone beyond their call of duty. The firefighters, who have been on the frontline since the quake, took time to prepare lunch for the villagers, providing much-needed relief and a sense of normalcy in these challenging times.

Our reporter, Zhao Chenchen, visited the village to witness firsthand the collaborative spirit between the firefighters and the residents. \"It's not just about rebuilding structures; it's about nourishing the community,\" said one of the firefighters as he stirred a large pot over an open flame.

The villagers expressed gratitude for the support. \"Having them here means a lot. They are not only helping rebuild our homes but also lifting our spirits,\" shared a local resident.

The lunch preparation became a moment of unity, with firefighters and villagers sharing stories and hopes for the future. Such acts of kindness highlight the strength and solidarity of the community as they work together to rebuild and recover.
