Xi Jinping’s Liaoning Tour Highlights Disaster Recovery and Community Renewal

Chinese President Xi Jinping recently embarked on his first domestic inspection of 2025, visiting Liaoning Province in northeast China to assess disaster recovery efforts, urban renewal projects, and industrial advancements. This marks the 13th consecutive year that President Xi has visited grassroots communities ahead of the Spring Festival, embodying his ongoing commitment to the well-being of the Chinese people.

On January 22, President Xi traveled to Zhujiagou, a village in Huludao, one of the areas most affected by the severe floods of 2024. The catastrophic floods, caused by unprecedented torrential rains, left many families displaced and in need of urgent assistance. In response, the village committee swiftly organized the construction of new homes on higher ground, tailored to the specific needs of each household. In less than two months, a new Zhujiagou Village emerged, providing nearly 200 disaster-stricken residents with warm homes before winter's arrival.

During his visit, President Xi inspected the progress of post-disaster restoration, personally visiting the homes of relocated villagers. He inquired about the quality of the new houses and the provisions made for their daily lives, emphasizing the government's dedication to ensuring the safety and comfort of its citizens. This hands-on approach reflects President Xi's \"people-first\" philosophy and his unwavering commitment to enhancing the sense of security among the populace.

The following day, on January 23, President Xi visited the Chang'an community in Shenyang, the capital of Liaoning Province. Here, he observed how public services are being optimized to improve residents' quality of life. Since 2023, the community has undergone significant renovations of old residential areas, with all 13 residential buildings and public spaces receiving upgrades. Initiatives focused on promoting quality employment, education, healthcare services, and elderly care have been implemented, showcasing a holistic approach to community development.

President Xi also toured a cold rolling mill of the Bensteel Group in Benxi City to gain insights into the company's efforts in accelerating industrial transformation and upgrading. The visit highlighted the importance of high-quality development in China's industrial sector and the commitment to fostering innovation and technological advancement.

Throughout his Liaoning tour, President Xi reaffirmed his dedication to improving people's livelihoods and fostering sustainable development. His visits to disaster-stricken villages, urban communities, and industrial enterprises underscore a comprehensive approach to governance that prioritizes the well-being of the nation and its people.
