Washington D.C. — Chinese Vice President Han Zheng expressed hope on Sunday that U.S. companies will continue to invest and establish deeper roots in China. During a meeting with representatives from the U.S.-China Business Council and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Han emphasized the vital role that American businesses play in fostering stable and sustainable China-U.S. relations.
\"We hope U.S. companies will continue to invest and take root in China, acting as a bridge and contributing more significantly to the steady, sound, and sustainable development of China-U.S. relations,\" Han stated.
Han is in Washington D.C. to attend the inauguration ceremony of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on Monday as the special representative of Chinese President Xi Jinping, at the invitation of the United States.
During the meeting with U.S. business leaders, Han highlighted the important common understandings reached between President Xi and President-elect Trump regarding the development of China-U.S. relations during a recent phone call.

Noting the broad common interests and vast potential for cooperation between China and the United States, Han said that getting the bilateral relationship off to a good start and maintaining its steady growth serves the well-being of both peoples and meets the expectations of the international community.
He acknowledged the U.S. business community as a backbone of China-U.S. relations—a participant, witness, contributor, and beneficiary of bilateral economic and trade cooperation and China's reform and opening-up drive.
\"China will unswervingly advance its reform and opening-up efforts and continue to improve its business environment,\" Han added.
U.S. business representatives noted that the recent phone conversation between Trump and Xi sent a positive, encouraging message. They expressed optimism about China's economic prospects and development opportunities, supporting strengthened dialogue and communication to advance bilateral relations and economic and trade cooperation.
Han also met with Tesla CEO Elon Musk on Sunday. He welcomed U.S. companies like Tesla to seize opportunities and share in the fruits of China's development, making greater contributions to promoting China-U.S. economic and trade relations.
Musk expressed readiness to deepen investment and cooperation in China and play an active role in promoting economic and trade exchanges between the United States and China.
