More than a week after a magnitude-6.8 earthquake struck Dingri County in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region on January 7, resettlement and reconstruction efforts are in full swing. Amid the ongoing recovery, firefighters from the Xizang Forest Firefighting Special Operations Unit are bringing warmth and comfort to the quake-affected villagers in Cuo'ang Village, Quluo Town.
On a crisp morning, the aroma of freshly cooked food wafts through the air as firefighters busily prepare lunch for the villagers. The team, led by Captain Wang Wei, has been tirelessly working not only to assist in reconstruction but also to ensure that the residents receive hot meals during this challenging time.
\"We want to do everything we can to support the community,\" says Captain Wang. \"Preparing meals is a small gesture, but it brings people together and lifts spirits.\"
The villagers, many of whom lost their homes in the quake, gather around to share the meal. Children laugh and play, momentarily forgetting the hardships they've faced. Elderly residents express gratitude for the firefighters' efforts.
\"Their kindness gives us hope,\" says Tashi, a resident of Cuo'ang Village. \"We are grateful for their help and companionship.\"
Reporter Zhao Chenchen, on the frontline, witnesses the strong bond forming between the firefighters and the villagers. The collaborative spirit is a testament to the resilience and unity of the people in the face of adversity.
As reconstruction continues, the firefighters remain committed to supporting the community in every possible way. Their acts of service go beyond duty, embodying compassion and solidarity.
