Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, extended festive greetings to non-CPC personages ahead of the Spring Festival on Monday. The gathering took place at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, as the nation prepares to celebrate the Spring Festival, which falls on January 29 this year.
During the annual event, Xi, who is also Chinese president and chairman of the Central Military Commission, conveyed his best wishes to members of non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front. He emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration in achieving the nation's goals.
Xi underscored that China will implement more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies, focusing on high-quality development. He highlighted the need to promote greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology to sustain sound social and economic development in 2025.
The general secretary called on non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to concentrate on central tasks and serve the country's overall interests. He urged them to leverage their unique strengths to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength.
Highlighting the significance of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025), Xi stressed the importance of achieving the set targets in 2025 and laying a solid foundation for the next five years. He expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development and actively contribute to comprehensively deepening reform, promoting high-quality development, and formulating proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).
Xi also addressed the need to tackle critical and challenging problems in the supervision of the Yangtze River ecosystem's protection, emphasizing environmental sustainability as a key priority.
Regarding the private sector, he encouraged the ACFIC to guide private enterprises in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship and bolstering confidence in development. He called for the establishment and improvement of modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features.
The event concluded with a renewed commitment to unity and cooperation among all sectors of society to achieve the nation's development goals.
