Xi Jinping Chairs CPC Meeting to Review Key Reports and Future Plans

Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, chaired a significant meeting of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee on Monday. The gathering focused on reviewing crucial reports and outlining plans for the country's future development.

The meeting evaluated a report from the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau after it heard and discussed the work reports of the leading Party members' groups from key state institutions. These included the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), the State Council, the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the Supreme People's Court (SPC), and the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP). Additionally, the work report of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee was reviewed.

Opinions on comprehensively promoting ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin were also central to the discussions. The Yellow River, known as the \"Mother River\" of China, plays a pivotal role in the nation's ecological and economic landscape.

The meeting fully recognized the achievements of the leading Party members' groups of the five state institutions over the past year and approved their work plans for 2025. Emphasizing a forward-looking approach, the leaders highlighted the importance of prioritizing effective action, uniting to advance reforms, and making new contributions to high-quality development and Chinese modernization.

The Secretariat was urged to boost its political capability, strengthen strict self-governance, and diligently accomplish all tasks entrusted by the CPC Central Committee.

The significance of ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin was underscored, with calls for the full enforcement of the Yellow River Protection Law. The meeting emphasized systematic enhancements to water source conservation in the river's upper reaches, strengthened soil and water conservation in the middle reaches, and advanced wetland protection and ecological governance in the lower reaches.

Efforts were also directed towards ensuring the safety of key dams, reservoirs, and infrastructure. Strengthening the synergy between the Yellow River's high-quality development and national strategies—such as the large-scale development of the western region and the rise of the central region—was highlighted as a priority.

The leaders called for improved holistic and systematic protection of cultural heritage and the promotion of integrated culture and tourism development in the region, aiming to foster economic growth while preserving the rich history along the Yellow River Basin.
