Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized the importance of a stable and resilient relationship between China and Russia during a video meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday. Xi stated that strong ties between the two nations would help address uncertainties in the external world.
\"In 2025, I am ready to work with President Putin to continue guiding China-Russia relations towards greater heights to cope with the uncertainties of the external environment with the stability and resilience of China-Russia relations, jointly promote the development and revitalization of the two countries, and uphold international fairness and justice,\" Xi said.
He highlighted the need for both sides to deepen strategic cooperation, reinforce mutual support, and safeguard their legitimate interests. Xi called on China and Russia to consolidate and expand bilateral relations and promote the in-depth development of practical cooperation.
President Putin, for his part, acknowledged the mutual trust and support between Russia and China. \"Russia and China have always trusted and supported each other and treated each other as equals,\" he said.
Putin added that cooperation between the two countries serves the interests of both peoples and will not be affected by changes in the international situation.
During the video meeting, the two leaders also held an in-depth exchange of views on international and regional issues of common concern. They agreed to maintain strategic communication in the coming year to further strengthen their partnership.
