In an annual tradition ahead of the Spring Festival, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, Chinese President, and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, extended festive greetings to non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front.
On Monday, during a gathering at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, Xi conveyed his warm wishes for the upcoming Chinese Lunar New Year, which falls on January 29 this year.
Emphasizing China's commitment to continued development, Xi announced that the nation will implement more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies in 2025. He highlighted the focus on high-quality development, promoting greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology to sustain robust social and economic progress.
\"We must achieve the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025) to lay a solid foundation for the next five years,\" Xi stated. He called upon non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to align with central tasks and serve the country's overall interests. He urged them to leverage their unique strengths to rally broader support, build consensus, and contribute wisdom and strength to national development.
Xi also expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development. He encouraged them to actively contribute to comprehensively deepening reform, promoting high-quality development, and formulating proposals for the upcoming 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).
Addressing environmental concerns, Xi stressed the need to tackle critical and challenging problems in supervising the protection of the Yangtze River ecosystem. He underscored the importance of ecological preservation in China's long-term development strategy.
Furthermore, Xi highlighted the role of the ACFIC in guiding the private sector. He urged the federation to encourage private enterprises to maintain enthusiasm for entrepreneurship, bolster confidence in development, and establish modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features.
