President Xi Jinping Chairs CPC Leadership Meeting to Propel High-Quality Development

On Monday, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, chaired a significant meeting of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee. The gathering focused on reviewing crucial reports and opinions aimed at steering the nation's high-quality development and ecological conservation efforts.

The meeting delved into a comprehensive report from the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee. Discussions were held on the work reports of the leading Party members' groups from key state institutions, including the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), the State Council, the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the Supreme People's Court (SPC), and the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP). The work report of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee was also reviewed.

One of the pivotal topics was the consideration of opinions on advancing ecological protection and fostering high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin. Recognizing the basin's strategic importance, the meeting underscored the necessity of promoting the full enforcement of the Yellow River Protection Law.

The meeting lauded the achievements of the leading Party members' groups over the past year and ratified their work plans for 2025. It was emphasized that in 2025, these groups must prioritize effective action, unite efforts to propel reforms, and contribute significantly to high-quality development and the realization of Chinese modernization.

The Secretariat was urged to enhance political capability, enforce strict self-governance, and diligently fulfill all tasks mandated by the CPC Central Committee.

Addressing ecological concerns, the meeting called for systematic measures to augment water source conservation in the upper reaches of the Yellow River, bolster soil and water conservation in the middle reaches, and advance wetland protection and ecological governance in the lower reaches.

Efforts were also encouraged to ensure the safety of vital dams, reservoirs, and infrastructure. The meeting highlighted the importance of synchronizing the Yellow River's high-quality development with broader national strategies, such as the large-scale development of the western region and the rise of the central region.

Furthermore, the meeting advocated for the improved protection of cultural heritage in a holistic and systematic manner and for promoting the integration of culture and tourism development along the Yellow River Basin.
