Dingri County, Xizang Autonomous Region — Amid ongoing resettlement and reconstruction efforts following the magnitude-6.8 earthquake on January 7, a group of firefighters from the Xizang Forest Firefighting Special Operations Unit brought warmth and comfort to the residents of Cuo'ang Village in Quluo Town.
The firefighters, stationed on the frontline of disaster relief, took time out of their rigorous duties to prepare a hearty lunch for the villagers affected by the quake. The aroma of freshly cooked food filled the air, drawing smiles from children and elders alike.
“We wanted to do something special for the community,” said squad leader Wang Wei. “Cooking a meal is a simple act, but it brings people together and lifts spirits during tough times.”
Our reporter, Zhao Chenchen, witnessed the camaraderie as firefighters and villagers shared stories over bowls of steaming rice and stir-fried vegetables. The meal not only nourished the body but also strengthened the bond between the first responders and the community they serve.
Local resident Tashi Lhamo expressed her gratitude: “The firefighters have been our guardian angels. Their kindness gives us hope that we will overcome this disaster.”
The earthquake left significant damage in its wake, but efforts like these highlight the resilience and unity of the people in Xizang. As reconstruction continues, the collaborative spirit between the rescue teams and villagers serves as a beacon of optimism for the region's recovery.
