Beijing, China – President Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, presided over a pivotal meeting of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee on Monday. The gathering focused on reviewing significant reports and setting the direction for the nation's development in the coming year.
The meeting meticulously examined a report from the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau after hearing and discussing the work reports of the leading Party members' groups from the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), the State Council, the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the Supreme People's Court (SPC), and the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP). The Political Bureau conveyed full recognition of the achievements made by the leading Party members' groups of the NPC Standing Committee, the State Council, the CPPCC National Committee, the SPC, and the SPP over the past year. Their work plans for 2025 received approval, underscoring the CPC's commitment to strategic planning and continuity.
Emphasizing the priorities for 2025, the meeting requested that the leading Party members' groups of the five state institutions focus on effective implementation of policies, collaborate to advance reforms, and contribute to promoting high-quality development and the realization of Chinese modernization.

The meeting underscored the critical importance of ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin. It called for the promotion of the full enforcement of the Yellow River Protection Law to preserve this vital natural resource.
Specific initiatives were outlined, including systematically enhancing water source conservation in the upper reaches of the Yellow River, strengthening soil and water conservation in the middle reaches, and advancing wetland protection and ecological governance in the lower reaches. These steps aim to ensure the long-term sustainability and environmental health of the river basin.
The meeting also highlighted the necessity of ensuring the safety of important dams, reservoirs, and infrastructure. There was a call to strengthen the synergy between the Yellow River's high-quality development and national strategies such as the large-scale development of the western region and the rise of the central region.
