Xi Jinping Calls for Stronger China-Vietnam Community with Shared Future

Beijing, China — Chinese President Xi Jinping has expressed his commitment to enhancing strategic mutual trust and practical cooperation with Vietnam, aiming to build a China-Vietnam community with a shared future that carries strategic significance.

In a message exchanged on Saturday with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam and Vietnamese President Luong Cuong, Xi, who is also the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, highlighted the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two nations as a pivotal moment to deepen relations.

“China and Vietnam, two friendly socialist neighbors, represent a community with a shared future that carries strategic significance,” Xi stated. He reflected on the longstanding friendship, noting that since establishing diplomatic ties 75 years ago, both countries have supported each other in their struggles for national independence and liberation. Xi emphasized that the profound friendship, being “both comrades and brothers,” vividly portrays the strong bond between the two parties and nations.

Highlighting the mutual advancement of socialism, Xi remarked, “The two sides have learned from each other and forged ahead hand in hand, thereby deepening their comprehensive strategic cooperation.” He underscored that sharing the same ideals and pursuing a shared future is the most striking feature of China-Vietnam relations.

Recalling his successful visit to Vietnam in 2023, Xi noted that both sides pledged to work towards a China-Vietnam community with a shared future, elevating bilateral relations to a new stage. He pointed out that amidst unprecedented global changes, the continued commitment of China and Vietnam to the path of socialism is significant not only for their own futures but also for the global socialist cause, regional peace, stability, development, and prosperity.

President Xi expressed his dedication to the growth of bilateral relations, stating his willingness to collaborate with Vietnamese leaders. He urged both nations to seize the opportunity presented by the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges. “Let us keep in mind our original mission and forge ahead on the new journey toward socialist modernization,” Xi said, aiming to deliver greater benefits to both peoples and contribute to human development and progress.
